 ELASTO-DECK™ 1000 (Polyurethane)

Trowel applied for smooth pedestrian deck and stairway coatings, even over irregular substrates.
TECH DATA SHEET | MAINTENANCE MANUAL
AVAILABLE COLORS:

Concrete Gray Tan Clear

ELASTO-DECK™ 1000 is a waterproof, liquid-applied, single-component, moisture-cured, polyurethane deck coating system featuring a smooth troweled finish. The ELASTO-DECK™ 1000 system consists of ELASTO-DECK™ 1001 (elastomeric base coat), ELASTO-GLAZE™ 2001 (liquid polyurethane aggregate binder), and ELASTO-GLAZE™ Type II (aliphatic polyurethane seal coat).

BASIC USES:
Exterior patios, sundecks, balconies, and stairways that require to be water-tight and are subjected to pedestrian traffic. The ELASTO-DECK™ 1000 system is approximately 3/16 inch (4.8mm) thick, but can be installed at greater thicknesses if needed. This system is ideal as a deck covering if the substrate that it is used on has an irregular finish. Since the product is applied with a trowel, it is possible to obtain a smooth finish, if desired, unlike the broadcast system.

SURFACE PREPARATION:
All surfaces which are to be coated with ELASTO-DECK™ 1000 system must be clean and dry. Contamination on concrete, such as curing compounds, bond breakers, paint, or other products, should be removed by acid etching or sandblasting. A light broom finish is recommended on concrete. If a curing compound is used, it should be a sodium silicate based material. It is desirable to water cure concrete instead of using chemical curing compounds. Except for non-moving shrinkage cracks, all cracks and joints must be sealed with ELASTO-THANE™ 230, a single component polyurethane sealant manufactured by Pacific Polymers, Inc.
Concrete must be primed with DECK-THANE™ PRIMER prior to installation of the system. Plywood in good condition does not require priming. All surfaces which are to receive the ELASTO-DECK™ 1000 shall be structurally sound and adequately sloped to drain. Only exterior grade plywood, c.c.-plugged and sanded, in conformance with U.S. product standard PSI-66, must be used. Plywood must be installed with all joints tightly butted and properly blocked to prevent differential deflection between plywood panels. Only ring shank nails must be used 4" (10.2 cm) o.c. along panel edges and 8" (20.3 cm) o.c. at intermediate supports.
Metal flashing must be installed at all locations where the horizontal deck joins a vertical surface and at all deck penetrations. Flashing must be nailed 2" (5 cm) o.c. and must be primed with STAINLESS STEEL PRIMER. All seams between plywood panels and those between metal flashing and plywood must be reinforced by imbedding a 2" (5 cm) wide strip of glass cloth tape into wet ELASTO-DECK™ 1001. The application of ELASTO-DECK™ 1001 can subsequently be made over the entire deck area, including the taped areas.

APPLICATION:
ELASTO-DECK™ 1001 shall be applied at a rate of 60 sq. ft. per gallon (1.47 m2/liter) per coat yielding 25 dry mils (6mm). After an over-night cure, a second application of ELASTO-DECK™ 1001 is to be made at 55 sq. ft. per gallon (1.47 m2/liter), giving an over-all thickness of 50 dry mils (1.27 mm). After a 24 hour cure, apply a mixture of ELASTO-GLAZE™ 2001 and the desired aggregate in a ratio of 5 parts aggregate to 1 part of ELASTO-GLAZE™ 2001 by volume, and trowel to a smooth even finish in a thickness of approximately 3/16 in (4.8 mm). One gallon of ELASTO-GLAZE™ 2001 mixed with 5 gallons of aggregate will cover approximately 40 sq. ft. (12.01 m2). After a 48 hour cure time, apply a coat of ELASTO-GLAZE™ type II at a rate of 110 sq. ft. per gallon (2.45 m2/liter). After a final 24 hour cure time, the deck may be opened to traffic.

All surfaces which are to be coated with ELASTO-DECK™ 5001 NG must be free of contamination such as curing compounds, concrete hardeners, bond breakers, paint, etc. All surfaces must be dry, having a maximum water content of 20%. Water-curing concrete is recommended instead of using concrete curing compounds. Concrete surfaces should be cleaned by sandblasting, beadblasting or acid etching. Allow a minimum drying time of 72 hours. Except for non-moving shrinkage cracks, and joints must be sealed with ELASTO-THANE™ 230, a single component, moisture-cured sealant manufactured by Pacific Polymers, Inc. All surfaces, except for plywood in good condition, must be primed with DECK-THANE™ PRIMER prior to application of the coating system at a rate of 350 square feet per gallon (8.6 m2/liter).

All seams between plywood sheets and the transition from the metal flashing and the plywood deck must be reinforced by imbedding a 3 inch (7.6 cm) wide strip of glass cloth tape in wet ELASTO-DECK™ 5001 NG, which is brushed evenly over the seam to a width of 4 inches (10 cm) and a thickness of about 20 mils (0.5 mm) wet. The application of ELASTO-DECK™ 5001 NG can subsequently be made immediately over the entire area, including the taped areas. Where ELASTO-DECK™ 5001 NG is used as a protective coating on polyurethane foam roofs, it must be applied within 8 hours from the time the foam is installed.

 ELASTO-DECK™ 8000 (Polyurea)

Pedestrian and Vehicular Deck Coating - Polyurea with user-controlled consistency, shore hardness, and thickness that tolerates extreme movement and harsh environments.
TECH DATA SHEET | MAINTENANCE MANUAL
AVAILABLE COLORS:

Concrete Gray Tan White Custom Colors Available

A liquid applied, two component, fast curing, 100% solids polyurea coating, applied by special spray equipment, which forms an exceptionally durable finish. ELASTO-DECK™ 8000 coating is a plural component, 100% solid, spray-applied elastomer and is available in an aromatic or aliphatic version. The product is available as a soft, stretch elastomer to a tough, hard elastomer. The coating is dry to the touch in 1 second. It can be applied in any thickness, on horizontal or vertical surfaces.
Perhaps the greatest advantage of this system is its inherent “stress relaxation,” which makes it uniquely suited to bridge cracks. When stretched out, this coating does not recover instantly as do all urethanes, but instead relaxes, thereby removing stress on the material and on the bond line. This feature prevents splitting of the coating over cracks.

BASIC USES:
ELASTO-DECK™ 8000 coating is designed to be spray applied on concrete, metal and wood structures for exterior and interior applications that require waterproofing, specific chemical resistance, corrosion and abrasion protection.
Roofing: ELASTO-DECK™ 8000 in the aliphatic version is an elastomeric coating for roofs and helipads where an absolutely waterproof coating is crucial, above living quarters and any other occupied areas. ELASTO-DECK™ 8000 is not only limited to new construction but can be used to rehabilitate old, existing built-up, or cap sheet roofs that failed or need repairs. Because of its tenacious bond to most substrates, ELASTO-DECK™ 8000 can be applied directly to the existing roof system. This will help save the extreme costs of removing a built-up roof system.
Traffic Bearing Coating: ELASTO-DECK™ 8000 can be used as a traffic bearing system, either pedestrian or vehicular traffic. Due to excellent tensile strength and abrasion resistance of ELASTO-DECK™ 8000 as well as availability of a wide range of Shore Hardnesses, it allows the system to be designed to tolerate movement and extreme conditions where other coatings typically fail. When used as a traffic bearing coating, the ELASTO-DECK™ 8000 may require a primer. ELASTO-DECK™ 8000 coating can be applied with an anti-skid surface, which is obtained by holding the spray gun farther from the surface, texture is created by the “in flight” curing of this extremely fast curing elastomer. The sprayed particles of the liquid elastomers do not level out when they hit the deck, thus creating this elastomeric, non-skid texture.
ELASTO-DECK™ 8000 coating has certain uses besides waterproofing, such as:

  1. Protective coatings and linings, such as truckbody liners.
  2. Abrasion-resistant coatings.
  3. Pipe coatings.
  4. Soil stabilization.
  5. Construction coatings.
  6. Grouting.
  7. Encapsulation — asbestos, concrete walls, drywall, etc.
  8. Highway stripping.
  9. Wire bundlings.
  10. Industrial coatings.
  11. Highway and bridge overlays.
  12. Drilling platforms.
  13. Tank coatings for non-potable water or hydrocarbon storage.

ADVANTAGES: The Aliphatic coating has:

  1. Long term stability toward UV light, enabling them to be used in a variety of outdoor applications.
  2. The coating gels within 1-3 seconds after mixing, dries in about 10 seconds and allows traffic within one hour.
  3. The sprayed coating is affected very little by weather variations, i.e. rain, high humidity, heat, cold, etc.
  4. One coat systems can be sprayed thus reducing time and labor.
  5. The coating has excellent physical properties, including tensile strength, elongation and abrasion resistance.
  6. High thermal stability at temperatures up to 350°F.
  7. Can be sprayed or sloped on vertical surfaces without forming drips or runs.
  8. Ease of application. Can be sprayed with commercially available spray application equipment. Little maintenance toward equipment and spray gun.

A Liquid applied, single component, water-cured, low odor polyurethane deck covering systems designed to be applied in one day with the use of Super Cure. Since the RAPID-FLEX™ systems are water-cured, these materials do not need atmospheric moisture to cure. The RAPID-FLEX™ materials are non-gassing, which enables the applicator to apply these materials in any thickness without the problems of gassing or foaming. With these systems, the use of different slip resistant aggregates allows the specifier to offer a variety of textures, the most popular of which is PACPOLY-FLEX™ RUBBER GRANULES. These granules have the ability to move and flex which provides a soft, silky, resilient texture that is not abrasive like other aggregates. The use of rubber granules as an aggregate is beneficial on patios, decking around the house, pool decks and play areas because they will not cut or tear the knees, hands or the bottom of feet. Vehicular traffic decks, and certain pedestrian traffic decks, require a much harder slip resistant, such as sand or aluminum oxide. These systems are comprised of a combination of the following components:

  • RAPID-FLEX™ HT
  • RAPID-FLEX™ HT 100% SOLIDS
  • RAPID-FLEX™ AR
  • RAPID-FLEX™ AL
  • PACPOLY-FLEX™ RUBBER GRANULES
  • SUPER CURE

BASIC USES:
RAPID-FLEX™ Systems are designed for rapid, one-day (in most conditions) installations over properly prepared concrete or plywood substrates to create a monolithic, waterproof, durable, elastomeric and slip resistant (when necessary) surface. RAPID-FLEX™ is designed to protect and beautify a wide range of applications. The system retains its elastomeric qualities in all climates including areas that are subjected to heavy freeze/thaw cycles. This system will not only ensure complete waterproofing and added protection, it will greatly increase the longevity and aesthetic value of the structure it is used on. Different areas of application require different types of slip resistant aggregate or no aggregate at all.

Slip Resistant Traffic Coatings utilizing the RAPID-FLEX™ components, can be used anywhere conventional deck coating systems are now used, taking advantage of the fast cure and non-gassing features that they offer. The Resilient Flooring Systems fulfill a great need in retirement homes, hospitals, and convalescent facilities, to prevent injury to persons when falling. At a 1/4 inch thick, such systems absorb impact and cushion a fall enormously. Instances where employees stand on their feet for long periods while performing their jobs, will benefit from RAPID-FLEX™ resilient flooring, replacing rubber mats with a truly seamless resilient surface with outstanding sanitary features. The Pedestrian Traffic Coatings provide quickly installed, economical, yet beautiful and functional, waterproof walking decks.

 AQUA-GUARD™ 20

A siloxane penetrating sealer with 20% solids for use on masonry surfaces to provide protection from moisture which results in alkali, efflorescence, freeze/thaw scaling, salt penetration, mold and mildew formations.
TECH DATA SHEET
AVAILABLE COLOR:

Clear

AQUA-GUARD™ 20's molecular structure allows exceptional penetration which provides extended life of the material. When a surface is properly treated with AQUA-GUARD™ 20, there is no apparent surface film, and the natural look, color or texture does not alter appreciably.

BASIC USES:
AQUA-GUARD™ 20 produces a chemical bond with the masonry's natural materials which will retain its natural vapor permeability. Recommended surfaces for AQUA-GUARD™ 20 are: Architectural Block, Architectural Concrete, Brick Pavers, Concrete Block, Concrete Monuments, Natural Stones, Precast Concrete, Poured in Place Concrete, Marble, Terrazzo, Travertine, etc. Also suitable for use on integrally colored concrete.

SURFACE PREPARATION:
Prior to application, all areas to be treated with AQUA-GUARD™ 20 must be free of any contamination such as waxes, oils, loose concrete, dirt, curing compounds or any other substance that might make penetration of the surface difficult. Before application, make sure all surface areas are properly prepared. The best method of removing contaminants is mechanically, however, detergents and chemicals often will remove contaminants from the substrate and open the pores of the substrate. On-site testing is recommended to determine the best method of cleaning. Mechanically removing contamination from the concrete may be done by sandblasting, scarifying, metallic abrasive blasting or water blasting. When using the option of mechanically removing contamination, you must take into consideration that it may damage the surface that is to be sealed with AQUA-GUARD™ 20 resulting in a very uneven appearance. For new concrete, allow the concrete to cure for a minimum of 21 days before applying AQUA-GUARD™ 20.

 AQUA-GUARD™ 20WB (Water-Based)

A water-based siloxane penetrating sealer with 20% solids for use on masonry surfaces to provide protection from moisture which results in alkali, efflorescence, freeze/thaw scaling, salt penetration, mold and mildew formations.
TECH DATA SHEET
AVAILABLE COLOR:

Clear

AQUA-GUARD™ 20WB's molecular structure allows exceptional penetration which provides extended life of the material. When a surface is properly treated with AQUA-GUARD™ 20WB, there is no apparent surface film, and the natural look, color or texture does not alter appreciably.

BASIC USES:
AQUA-GUARD™ 20WB produces a chemical bond with the masonry's natural materials which will retain its natural vapor permeability. Recommended surfaces for AQUA-GUARD™ 20WB are: Architectural Block, Architectural Concrete, Brick Pavers, Concrete Block, Concrete Monuments, Natural Stones, Precast Concrete, Poured in Place Concrete, Marble, Terrazzo, Travertine, etc. Also suitable for use on integrally colored concrete.

SURFACE PREPARATION:
Prior to application, all areas to be treated with AQUA-GUARD™ 20WB must be free of any contamination such as waxes, oils, loose concrete, dirt, curing compounds or any other substance that might make penetration of the surface difficult. When using the option of mechanically removing contamination, you must take into consideration that it may damage the surface that is to be sealed with AQUA-GUARD™ 20WB resulting in a very uneven appearance. For new concrete, allow the concrete to cure for a minimum of 21 days before applying AQUA-GUARD™ 20WB.

 ELASTO-TEX™ WALLCOATING

A seamless, elastomeric, waterproof coating for use on concrete and masonry exterior walls to protect against water penetration, and to provide an aesthetic improvement to those structures.
TECH DATA SHEET
AVAILABLE COLOR:

White

An elastomeric, waterbased acrylic coating. Contains no plasticizers; chemically modified to provide truly elastomeric qualities. ELASTO-TEX™ WALLCOATING is a highly durable, flexible coating with outstanding resistance to weathering, ultra-violet light, mildew and water. (It is a breathing type coating allowing water vapor to escape from the interior without loss of adhesion).

BASIC USES:
The coating will waterproof porous structures, such as, exterior concrete and masonry walls and wood siding,as well as seal hairline cracks, caused by the settling of the building or earthquake. The product is to be used only on above grade walls.

SURFACE PREPARATION:
Concrete should be cured for at least 28 days prior to coating. All concrete and masonry surfaces shall be thoroughly cleaned to remove all dirt, grease, efflorescence or other foreign matter. ELASTO-TEX™ WALLCOATING will bond to painted surfaces, but it must be understood that such a system will bond only as well as the paint is bonded to the substrate. Wood surfaces must be cleaned and relatively dry before application. All cracks over 1/16" (1.6 mm) in width must be ground and caulked flush with ELASTO-TEX™ CAULK.

APPLICATION:
Certain surfaces, such as extremely porous masonry concrete or wood, may require ELASTO-TEX™ primer. This primer must be applied at 200-300 sq. ft. per gallon depending on the porosity of the substrate. The ELASTO-TEX™ WALLCOATING coating may be applied after a 1 hour dry time. ELASTO-TEX™ WALLCOATING is applied at 60-100 sq. ft. per gallon depending on the surface, yielding 10 dry mils (.25 mm). Two coats or more at this coverage are recommended following a 24 hour cure time between coats. Apply in a cross pattern to eliminate pin holes. Application may be made by brush, roller or spray. Airless spray equipment or conventional heavy-duty spray equipment works well. ELASTO-TEX™ WALLCOATING is thixotropic rather than viscous and, therefore, breaks up easily in a spray pattern. The first coat must be thoroughly dry before applying a second coat. The time required will vary depending on temperature, wind and humidity. All ferrous surfaces should be primed with a rust inhibiting primer prior to application of ELASTO-TEX™ WALLCOATING. Equipment may be cleaned up with soap and water.
